Why I’m Running

Why I’m Running:

I was an active participant and donor to multiple service and volunteer organizations prior to Covid-19. When the pandemic came out of the blue in March of 2020 it threw my entire life into upheaval. It took time, community, and support to navigate those uncertain times. I know of many friends, family, and loved ones who have similar stories. Fast forward to September of 2022. I enrolled in Leadership Thurston County, a program dedicated to developing the next generation of passionate leaders in our community. It helped pull back the curtain and gave me a first hand view at many of the unique and treasured locations in Thurston County. I was able to speak with and learn about organizations from all over the county and the incredible work they do. The program helped connect the dots between the non-profit, government, and private sector. It demonstrated a clear need for change.

This experience made an indelible impact on me and spurred me to become more active in local government. I began attending local city council meetings and saw an opportunity to serve my community in a way that would ensure a positive sustainable bright future for every resident who calls Lacey their home. I didn’t want to wait to start helping the community and applied and was accepted to the Capital Area Regional Public Facilities District Board.

I look forward to serving the diverse and wonderful citizens of Lacey.
